The first, is a newly made slipcover for a sweet little chair that we'll be babysitting for a good while. I made it in order to keep the upholstery from further damage (as you can see there is some fraying). And while I like the green floral that covers it alright, we needed something a bit more cheerful, and less muted to go with the other furniture. So we chose this fabric:
I payed only $4 for all the materials! It was much easier than I thought it would be to put together-- probably because of a failed attempt at a slipcover for a certain sectional. I don't really know what went wrong, but I created something that wouldn't even pass as shabby chic. The experience reminded me of the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's when Holly mixes up her knitting pattern with a map of Brazil. Now, I see that starting small is perhaps wiser when attempting to learn a new skill. However, I'm so stubborn that it will take many years (maybe a lifetime) to actually integrate this philosophy into my life. For the time being, I'm not going to deny that I am delighted with this particular slipcover.
The second is the CUTEST and most lovingly crafted invitation that my sister, Emma made for our upcoming baby shower.
It was difficult to photograph (sorry if these pictures do any injustice, Emma), but you get the idea-- adorable! Emma is so so so precise in everything that she does. It is mind blowing. Sometime soon I would like to do a little blog feature on each of my siblings (I have three). They are just amazingly talented and inspiring. Each has their own unique creative passion, as well as their very personal way of expressing and exploring that passion.
