This is a project that I started MONTHS ago...
the reupholstering of this sectional that we picked up at the local Salvo. I got a bee in my bonnet one day and did one of the sections over in some very very pale pink cotton duck. What a chore. It was so nerve wracking-- removing all of the old fabric (tolerable in small doses, but quite intense, in that flaky 70s way, when covering the largest piece of furniture in a room), and taking all of those staples out. I kind of just fudged my way through the whole process-- using what I'd learned online about upholstering arm chairs. So it is by no means perfect. I will not deny that the imperfections don't bother me. Yet at the same time, there are a few details that I'm proud of. Like the arm. It has a few quirks, but I like this. I like the fact that I hand stitched the inside piece to the outside piece-- it gives it some charm(?).
An outside view of the arm...
You might be wondering why the cushions are unfinished. Well, this is why I've dedicated a post to this project. Because we will be moving next week, and the batting on the back of this section is exposed, it is my goal to complete the cushions and the back by Sunday. This project is not exactly at the top of my list of projects that I am excited about, but that just might change when it's all done. Even though I'll probably end up covering it with a throw-- it's just itching for a glass of wine to be spilled on it-- I'm looking forward to seeing it all uniform and clean. Then it's onto the second section. Just kidding. I've got a plan. They will be going into separate rooms in the new place. I'll get to it when I'm feeling that certain brand of-- well you know, manic insanity.
