Badgers and Pussywillows

Today is (supposed to be!) a busy day of packing, cleaning, and organizing, but I thought that I'd take a few moments to check in here. It is the last day of February...and I am literally dreaming of Spring. The other night I had a most lovely dream in which I was gathering pussywillows at the edge of a pond. There was still a little snow on the ground-- as there usually is when the pussywillows begin to produce their soft gray buds. I chose just two branches and arranged them in a vase in our new home.
This weekend we welcomed home our dear friend, Andy Wade. He had been travelling in China and Japan for a month-- lucky boy! As a belated birthday present for my fellow Aquarian, I made him a little travel pillow with badgers on it. I knew that he had a thing for badgers, so out came the iron-on transfers and some whimsical fabric (purple sheer with silver stars) that is (in myopinion) very Andy Wade.
After returning from our visit with Andy, I was listening to This American Life, when quite randomly, one of the storytellers began to describe his fascination with badgers!? He spoke of their mystique and how they seem to carry some sort of secret around with them. Hmmm. Badgers. And our friend, Andy Wade.
